We’ll guide you through the course with class notes, textbooks and unlimited instructor support. Each lesson has been specifically designed for independent study – you’ll learn Keyboarding and Word Processing in no time.

Course Description

Keyboarding (“21st Century typing”) is the fundamental skill required for fast, accurate and effective computer usage in every field from auto mechanics and journalism to retailing and medicine. Word processing functions are used to create, edit, format, save, revise, and print correspondence, reports, articles, term papers, newsletters, Web pages, contracts, manuals, sales literature, and other documents.

Designed to help prepare students for the career of their choice, this course includes the very popular and profusely illustrated textbook, Keyboarding and Word Processing, Microsoft® Word 2002. Spiral-bound and with an easel for easy use alongside a PC, it comes with a CD-ROM containing extra data files, organized by module, so that the student can learn, hands-on, how to revise or correct a variety of existing documents.
  • A detailed Study Guide, Keyboarding and Word Processing, contains an introduction to Level 1 and Level 2 of the textbook, plus lesson assignment pages, self-check tests, and a graded exam.
  • A Study Unit, PC Basics, explains the basics of computers, input and output devices, the central processing unit, storage devices, the Internet, and software applications. It, too, has a graded exam.
  • A second CD-ROM, Keyboarding Pro, Version 3, consists of a tutorial, reinforcement activities, games, a word processor, and movies demonstrating proper posture and keying technique—all designed to help build keyboarding skills on all levels.
Keyboarding Pro CD-ROM requires a PC (not a Mac) with 233 MHz Pentium II or compatible processor; 32MB of RAM (64MB recommended, and required for Windows 2000); 4X speed (or faster) CD-ROM drive; Soundblaster compatible sound card; 800 x 600 graphics with 16-bit colors; Windows compatible laser or inkjet printer; Windows 95 (minimum), Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows NT 4.0 Workstation, Windows Millennium Edition, Windows XP, or higher.
